Each year, SBCN honors leaders in the field of cognitive and behavioral neurology. The SBCN Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of behavioral neurology.

Jeremy Schmahmann, M.B., CH.B.
Jeremy Schmahmann is an internationally recognized expert on the cerebellum and the anatomy of the brain. He is a pioneer of the cerebellum and cognition and received the Norman Geschwind prize for his work in 2000. He has served on the scientific advisory board of the National Ataxia Foundation since 2005 and is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Neuropsychiatric Association. His book, Fiber Pathways of the Brain, was awarded the Best Publication in Medical Science from the American Association of Publishers in 2006.

Murray Grossman, MDCM, EdD
Murray Grossman, an internationally recognized physician-scientist who made innumerable contributions to the field of neurology, passed away peacefully at his home on April 4, 2023. Murray, who was an extraordinary leader and mentor who played a significant role in advancing the careers of hundreds of mentees and colleagues worldwide, was honored posthumously with the SBCN Lifetime Achievement Award. Murray authored more than 600 publications while at the University of Pennsylvania. His advocacy led to greater genetic testing for dementia and greater understanding of the biology of FTD.
