Position Title:  Behavioral Neurologist

Location: Department of Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Division of Behavioral Neurology & Integrated Medicine 

The applicant for this position will be expected to have an active clinical practice with efforts at both MGH West in Waltham, Massachusetts and in the MGH Wang Ambulatory Care Center. The candidate will play a prominent role as an active clinician and innovator in the Division of Behavioral Neurology & Integrated Brain Medicine. Expertise in assessing and managing a broad range of patients with neurobehavioral needs is preferred, including working with adults experiencing cognitive, behavioral, affective, and perceptual symptoms such as individuals with neurodegenerative conditions, traumatic brain injury, neuropsychiatric presentations in the setting of known brain diseases, as well as functional cognitive disorder.

The candidate will have opportunities to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes neurologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, nurses, and other allied rehabilitation professionals. Experience in the conduct of clinical and/or translational research would be of interest but is not required. Appointment as an instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS) along with a corresponding MGH appointment will be considered, commensurate with experience, training, and achievements. An HMS appointment carries the expectation the candidate will engage in teaching in the Harvard community a minimum of 50 hours per year, including the opportunity to supervise residents and fellows in a behavioral neurology clinic. Suitable candidates will have an MD, DO, or an MD-PhD, and ABPN certification in neurology, as well as completion of at least one year of fellowship training in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry. UCNS certification in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry is preferred but not required. Those dual trained in neurology and psychiatry (regardless of fellowship training status) are also encouraged to apply.

Position Title: Clinical Neurologist with Expertise in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, Memory Disorders

Location: Center for Healthy Aging, Swedish Neuroscience Institute, Seattle, Washington

The ideal candidate should have completed fellowship training in Behavioral Neurology/Dementia. The role involves providing outpatient clinical care in behavioral neurology, aging, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. It is important to have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills to be successful in this position. The role is part of an innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary team including cognitive neurologists, neuropsychologists, APPs, social workers, nutritionist/health coaches, and care coordinators. The Swedish Neuroscience Institute (SNI) has a large regional presence with 5 campuses across the Puget Sound. In this position, there are opportunities to work with several other subspecialists at SNI and to expand Dementia and Brain Health Programs along with our other subspecialty programs in Movement Disorders, Stroke, Epilepsy, MS, ALS/Neuromuscular, Neuro-oncology, Neuro-ophthalmology, and Pediatric Neurology. In addition, with Swedish’s large primary care network and geriatrics programs, there are opportunities to partner with these groups to develop systems of care for dementia patients across the region. On a larger scale, Swedish, as part of Providence Health, is developing standards for dementia care across a multi-state region. Hence, the provider in this role will have opportunities to impact dementia care on a much larger scale, including:

  • Utilize the latest tools to diagnose the stages of memory loss and dementia, including PET imaging, genetic testing, EEG, neuropsychology, and cerebrospinal fluid analysis.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Engage in community outreach and education
  • Participate in robust clinical trials across the spectrum of cognitive decline.
  • Engage in Lifestyle and Culinary Medicine Programs with a commitment to population health and sustainability

Candidates must have:

  • Completed an ACGME/AOA approved Neurology residency program
  • Completed a Behavioral or Geriatric Neurology fellowship program with Eligibility/Certification by UCNS in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry

The compensation amounts listed may include productivity or quality/service incentives, call pay, extra shift incentives, as applicable to the position.
